OKLAHOMA! 1988
This musical production was staged on the deJong Concert Hall stage at Brigham Young University, directed by Charles Metten. The director wanted to base the production on the film, vwanting to be able to "zoom in and out" on production numbers. The large farmhouse was designed on hydraulics so it could raise up, roll downstage, and then settle back down in its new position. All other locations were likewise portable and all of them fit inside the other. The false proscenium was designed to represent the old style vaudeville movie houses. Everything was trompe painted to accent the cinematic effect.
